-By advancing the ART of  DANCE, we will create a generation of students with enhanced creativity and problem-solving skills along with a strong sense of personal worth and social responsibility.

-Children and Teens who study dance are more:

  • self-motivated, disciplined and focused in their everyday lives;
  • expressive in their communication of emotions, thought and feelings,and likely to excel in nonverbal reasoning and communications;
  • creative and imaginative, and able to analyze critically their work and the work of others

-The ART of DANCE  uses movement to communicate meaning about the human experience. It is far more than entertainment or exercise. It is a power medium to express out values, our thoughts, our aspirations and our fears about the lives we live and the world in which we live.

-There is now an ever increasing dialogue between contemporary dance and ballet.  This has, and continues to, enrich  both dance forms technically and artistically throughout the world.

- Improvisation, often called, improv, refers to dance movements that are created spontaneously by the dancer. It’s a technique used by master and novice choreographers alike to create dance works.

-Ballet originated in the courtly entertainments of the 15th century Italy. The formality and gracious behavior of ballet is still expressed today.

-Contemporary dance is a term both used interchangeably with modern dance and more specifically means dance that developed from the roots of modern dance.

-The origins of Hip Hop can be traced back to 1925 when Earl Tucker (“Snake Hips”) performed at the Cotton Club in the Duke Ellington era.

-Through dance , you can better understand humanity by appreciating how it parallels a culture or time.
