Marlo Andersen

Marlo began her dance training at the age of 5 at Patzius Performing Arts in St. Louis, Missouri.  At this young age, she immediately fell in love with the art, beauty and athleticism of ballet and other dance forms.  She continued her training with a passion at Palm Beach Ballet in West Palm Beach, Florida and Southern Ballet of Atlanta, in Atlanta Georgia.  There, becoming the youngest dancer ever to be promoted to the school’s 1st Company.  Her serious training continued in the summers in New York City with Madame Gabriela Darvash and Joffrey Ballet School.

Marlo pursued her career in dance through obtaining a Bachelors in Dance Performance with a Modern emphasis at Brigham Young University in 1993.  There, she received Talent Scholarship Awards and performed in the modern departments elite touring company, Dancers Company.  She began teaching during her Senior year at BYU, moving to choreographing professionally, and continued performance in organized  performance companies.

Her love of children and of the art of dance has lead her to a lifelong commitment to creating a social movement in dance education, performance and technical excellence, using the university model of training the whole child.

Her teaching methods involve reaching children and teens on a cognitive and emotional level. Thus using anatomy and kinetics to to break down technique and explain movement, then applying introspectively those lessons to each individual to produce a technical dancer that has a deep knowledge of how he/she personally connects with the movement and his/her personal impact on the art as a whole.

Marlo is the founder and Artistic Director of Creative Edge Dance Studio, a wife of 18 years, and  the mother of five children. She currently resides in Alpine, Utah with her family.
